Picture your next project atop this one-of-a-kind gorgeous 24 x 24” American Cherry and Baltic Birch wooden cradled substrate.   Each side of this cradle is a mix of deep brownish red heartwood and creamy white sap wood and boasts very unique grain patterns.  A stunning combination only Mother Nature could make!

This hand crafted, individually numbered Hardwood substrate (SAS15) arrives to you ready to go out of the box.  This cradle has been pre-sealed top, bottom and sides, next 4 coats of white hard-sandable gesso were applied to the sealed birch top and sanded between coats.  This step creates a hard flat surface to create on.  Lastly, four coats of Marine grade varnish (which helps with UV protection) were applied.  The only step you need to do is tape off the Cherry sides with high quality painter tape and you are ready to create.   This is such a new and exciting way to showcase your next finer art project, resin project or whatever you can dream up! Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

All of our substrates are built to last for generations to come.   Unlike the warped, unlevel, light weight, low quality wooden cradles you find in craft stores and on-line, this cradle weights an impressive 6 lb 14 oz and it measures a true 23 7/8" x 23 3/4". The profile depth is 1 3/4", which include the 1/4" Baltic birch top.  The cradle is braced on the back using seven 7/8" thick Basswood strip.  Unlike other "wooden" substrates on the market, ours do not contain any MDF, fiber board, nails or staples.  We handcraft our substrates using only the highest grade sustainably sourced B/BB Baltic Birch and Premium Hardwoods.

Give your next Masterpiece a Superior start!

American Cherry is a hardwood native the Northeast United States.  Its scientific name is Prunus Avium. Also known as wild cherry, it is one of the most popular domestic woods for fine woodworkers. Although widely available in the US, it is still considered a premium domestic hardwood and is highly desirable for its workability and warm tones.  This beautiful hardwood is used mainly for fine furniture, millworks like doors and trim and hardwood flooring.
