Your next Masterpeice will stand out like no other on top of this stunner! Brazilian Cherry is an exotic hardwood that boasts a reddish-brown color with a golden luster that shimmers in the light. Each side of this marvelous cradle is different and is enhanced with dark heartwood streaks. No two boards are ever exactly the same making this truly one-of-kind.

This individually numbered substrate (SAS45) arrives to you ready to go out of the box.  This cradle has been pre-sealed top, bottom and sides, next 4 coats of white hard-sandable gesso were applied to the sealed birch top and hand sanded between coats. This step creates a hard flat surface to create on. Lastly, four coats of Marine grade varnish (which helps with UV protection) were hand applied to the hardwood sides and hand sanded between coats. This step seals and protects the wood. The only step you need to do is tape off the Brazilian Cherry sides with high quality painter tape and you are ready to create. This is such a new and exciting way to showcase your next fine art project, epoxy resin project or whatever you can dream up! All of our substrates come with a Certificate of Authenticity.

All of our substrates are hand-crafted Heirloom quality and built to last for generations to come. Unlike the warped, unlevel, low quality wooden cradles you find in craft stores and on-line, this cradle weighs in at an impressive 3 lb 3.4 oz and measures 12" x 12" square. The gallery profile depth is 1 3/4" which includes the 1/4" Baltic birch top. The cradle is braced extra well on the back using four 7/8" thick Basswood corner braces*.  Unlike other "wooden" substrates on the market, ours do not contain any MDF, fiber/pouring board, nails, screws or staples. We only use top-quality Baltic Birch, Basswood and Premium sustainably sourced Hardwoods.

A little bit about Brazilian Cherry. Its scientific name is Jatoba and is one of the most popular exotic hardwoods.  It's not difficult to see why, Brazilian Cherry's breathtaking reddish-brown heartwood is lined by dark black streaks and a golden luster. An incredibly strong and dense wood, Brazilian Cherry is expensive and not readily available. Mostly used for high-end hardwood flooring, tool handles, decking and fine furniture.
